Robert Stolz (1880-1975) muss wohl nicht n\u00e4her vorgestellt werden. Er war ein erfolgreicher Komponis
\nund Dirigent aus Graz. Highlights waren u.a. zwei Oscar-Nominierungen. Sein umfassendes Werk ist noch
\nnoch immer nicht im vollen Umfang erforscht. Viele seiner Melodien sind aber bis heute unvergessen,
\nseine Arbeit als Dirigent vor allem im Genre der Wiener Musik auf unz\u00e4hligen Tontr\u00e4gern verewigt. Was
\nsein Schaffen so besonders ausgezeichnet hat, konnte Marcel Prawy wie folgt auf den Punkt bringen:<\/p>\n

\u201cUnlike Johann Strauss or Franz Leh\u00e1r, Stolz is a composer whose music can withstand any arrangement, as it were,\nand can be \u2018dressed\u2019 in any style: His music sounds magnificent, whether performed by a philharmonic orchestra, sung by a\nworld-class tenor or a jazz singer, or played by a band, a guitar, a zither, or a solo piano. The significance of the arrangement\nmakes this Graz native the American among the masters of European music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vorliegender Walzer vereint Motive aus der Operette \u201eZum Goldenen Halbmond\u201c (\u201eZum Goldenen
\nKipferl\u201c). Die Operette wurde 1936 in Osnabr\u00fcck uraufgef\u00fchrt. Das Werk wurde 1960 in einer Neufassung
\nunter dem Titel \u201eWiener Caf\u00e9\u201c in einer Neufassung herausgebracht. Der gleichnamige Walzer ist aber
\nbereits 1953 im Druck erschienen. Das Arrangement f\u00fcr Symphonieorchester stammt von Wal Berg.<\/p>\n
