The creations of the “star chefs” of Viennese music are rich in melodies and require – despite their apparent simplicity – a sophisticated playing technique in order to make the multifaceted scores appear fully elegant. Viennese music, with its surprising rubati, accelerandi and sudden “stops”, is also the best example of the fact that notes can only ever represent part of the musical message. Much of it cannot be written down and requires an “oral tradition” of performance practice as an important supplement. The good thing is that there are enough audio documents available. This edition of music is intended to pass on the beautiful melodies to the next generations. The texts are designed in such a way that they can be used for small concerts and/or class evenings to introduce the respective number.
