With the polka “Perpetuum Mobile” (A musical joke), Johann Strauss Jr. composed a self-contained polka that could be played on an endless loop, so to speak. This idea is taken up in Perpetuum Polka. In addition to the elements of a polka (1. bass, 2. follow-up), a recurring trumpet signal (3.) is very significant for a Strauss polka. Using the trumpet signal, you can easily jump from one polka to the next, thus sketching out – the impressive oeuvre of Johann Strauss Jr. makes it possible – a Perpetuum (Strauss) Polka. This arrangement was tailor-made for the Vienna Operetta Orchestra and premiered in the Metropolitan Hall Tokyo. Be careful: original keys!
