Description
Along with Franz Lehár, Emerich Kálmán is considered one of the most successful composers of the so-called “Silver Era” of Viennese operetta. His greatest successes include “The Csárdás Princess” and “Countess Mariza”. The best-known titles from the two operettas are combined in this potpourri. The Vienna Operetta Orchestra performed this compilation for the first time as part of the New Year Concerts 2007 in the Metropolitan Hall Tokyo to great applause from the audience. This arrangement was adapted for wind orchestra and performed for the first time in 2016 in the Stefaniensaal in Graz. In this arrangement, the wind orchestra shows itself as a soulful companion to the solo singers, but also shines with snappy and groovy interludes. A “must have” for your concert program for a detour to the era of the Viennese operetta. Professional singers are obligatory (microphoning of the soloists).
