This potpourri was written especially for the Vienna Operetta Orchestra and performed by this renowned orchestra in 2007 in the “Metropolitan Hall” (Tokyo / Japan). The aim of the arrangement was to bring together the well-known fiery melodies from “Èljen a Magyar”, the “Csárdás” from the opera “Ritter Pázman” (both J. Strauß) and the “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 5” (J. Brahms) into a larger whole.
The version for wind orchestra is intended to be as close as possible to the sound of a large symphony orchestra. The arrangement is available in both the original key (AND. 00023) and a key that is more pleasant for wind orchestras (AND. 00024). This arrangement was first performed in the original key in the Stefaniensaal in Graz by the LJBO Steiermark, and in the wind orchestra key by the Schwanberg/St. Peter im Sulmtal ensemble.
