Powerful fanfare with a melancholic middle section. Composed for the Landesjugendblasorchester Steiermark (& organ) and dedicated to my dear friend Wolfgang Gritzner. Organ required!
Description
The fanfare was commissioned for the 2019 New Year's Concert for the Styrian State Youth Wind Orchestra and is dedicated to my dear friend Wolfgang Gritzner. The premiere took place on 6 January 2019 under the direction of Wolfgang Jud in the Stefaniensaal in Graz. Message of the work: What you can experience in half a century. The most beautiful moments, love, inner turmoil, despair, anger, longing, success and failure. This is expressed musically through wild runs in the woodwinds, fanfare sounds in the brass, a lyrical solo in the flute and soft sounds in the flugelhorn. The organ also makes a worthy appearance here. An incredibly powerful opening piece, but not for the faint-hearted.
